Lecture at University of Applied Sciences in Vlissingen – 2 DECEMBER 2024

On December 2nd, Sock by Sock was invited to give two lectures at the HZ University of Applied Sciences in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. As part of the HZ Impact Studio, board member Frank Hulshoff shared insights into Sock by Sock’s mission to combat overproduction in the fashion industry. The session explored customer behaviour, commercial solutions, and the growing need for sustainable innovation to address one of fashion’s biggest challenges.

In the afternoon, a separate session was held for the Global Projects & Change Management students at the HZ campus in Middelburg. This lecture took a deeper dive into the positioning of sustainability messaging and the business risks associated with it. Frank also shed light on the financial realities of running NGOs versus commercial organizations, offering students a practical perspective on the complexities of sustainability-driven businesses.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Ingrid de Vries, Evelyn Schoe van Dijk, and the entire HZ team for their warm welcome and excellent organization. A big thank you as well to all the students who actively participated, asked thoughtful questions, and showed their dedication to understanding and driving positive change.

At Sock by Sock, we believe that knowledge is key to building a more sustainable future—and we’re always excited to share our experiences and learn from the next generation of changemakers.

Together, step by step, we make progress.
